Program Communications Specialist for an educational travel organization that facilitates medical placements and healthcare initiatives in Kenya.
Job Summary
The Program Communications Specialist will be responsible for developing and overseeing the organization’s communications with a focus on driving engagement as well as broadband recognition/credibility. This individual should be able to think creatively, be a self-starter, have excellent communication and interpersonal skills, and a passionate change agent for social impact.
Key Roles:
• Conceptualize and produce content across websites, social media platforms, email newsletters, and branded content. Ensure it is on message, differentiated and resonates with target audiences.
• Ensure prompt and accurate email communication with program participants.
• Generate fresh, creative ideas for initiatives and campaigns across channels, and work with team and agency to execute on them.
• Support the creation and execution of integrated content strategy for International Medical Aid across platforms, that supports the organization’s objectives and drives engagement with key audiences.
• Collaborate with country/regional counterparts as the program rolls out geographically to optimize contextual impact while telling a consistent and compelling global narrative.
• Incorporate Search Engine Optimization (SEO) best practices in all content.
Required:
• Bachelor’s degree in communications, journalism, marketing, public relations, or a related field (essential).
• A minimum of 2-5 years’ relevant experience in communications strategy development (essential).
• Excellent written and verbal communication, and interpersonal skills.
• Must be proficient with email, Microsoft Office Suite including Microsoft PowerPoint, content management systems, and social media platforms; including Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn and Instagram
• Excellent project management skills; ability to manage multiple moving parts, juggle assignments and make quick/sound decisions.
• Meticulous attention to detail.
• A portfolio of work available for review.
• Must possess a very high level of integrity and upload IMA’s ethical standards
• Must possess clean criminal and academic record
• Must be self-motivated and be able to effectively work with minimum supervision
• Must have the ability to develop and maintain good relationships with internal and external stakeholders
• Willingness to work extended hours to ensure that projects are completed, as needed.
