The East African Community is a regional intergovernmental organization comprising the Republic of Burundi, Democratic Republic of Congo, the Republic of Kenya, the Republic of Rwanda, Republic of Uganda, Republic of South Sudan and the United Republic of Tanzania, with its Headquarters in Arusha, Tanzania.
The EAC mission is to widen and deepen economic, political, social and cultural integration to improve the quality of life of the people of East Africa through increased competitiveness, value added production, trade and investments.
This is an exciting opportunity for highly motivated and result-driven professionals who are citizens of East African Community Partner States (Burundi, DRC, Rwanda and South Sudan) to apply for the following positions tenable at East African Community Legislative Assembly.
RESEARCH OFFICER (1 post) (REF: EAC/HR/2022-23/18)
Organ : East African Legislative Assembly
Grade : P1
Reports to : Senior Research Officer
Duty Station : Arusha, Tanzania
Main purpose of the job:
To provide technical support in research, documentation and dissemination of information to staff and Members of the East African Legislative Assembly.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Support the Assembly to establish effective research, documentation and information dissemination systems.
Document and disseminate on-going research findings
Provide support to staff and Members of the Assembly in building in-house research
Conduct research and write papers on varied subjects for the use of the Committees of the Assembly.
Organize and catalogue the work and output of the Assembly.
Provide service to Standing Committees as and when necessary.
Perform any other duties as may be assigned by Management.
Qualifications and Experience:
Bachelor’s Degree in Economics, Social sciences or related fields.
Minimum five (5) years relevant work experience in the field of research in a busy and reputable organization.
Postgraduate qualifications in research methods and knowledge of computer-based statistical packages will be an added advantage.
Skills and Competencies:
The ideal candidate should have good interpersonal, communication, research and report-writing skills.
Eligibility for applications:
Applicants from the Republic of Burundi, DRC, Rwanda, and South Sudan are eligible to apply for the above position.
Terms and Conditions of Service:
The above position is tenable for a contract of five (5) years renewable once.
This position is subject to the application of the Quota System.

Education Qualifications
All candidates applying must have qualifications that are recognized by the relevant national accreditation body in their respective Partner State. This condition is applicable for locally and internationally attained qualifications.
All professions that require registration with the specific professional bodies will be expected to do so in compliance with the requirements of their respective Partner States.
Relevant Working Experience
Internship, training and apprenticeship will not be considered as relevant work experience.
