Job Description/Requirements
Kenya Seed Company Limited, established under the Companies Act, 2015, is a Commercial State Corporation under the Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock, Fisheries and Irrigation. Its primary mandate is to produce and market top quality certified agricultural seeds.
Terms of service: Permanent and pensionable.
Reporting to the Manager, Seed Production.
Duties and responsibilities of this position will include:
i) Identification and Recruitment of seed growers to achieve set seed production targets.
ii) Coordinate distribution of basic seed to all contracted farms and approved seed growers.
iii) Coordination of farm operations with seed growers to optimize yields.
iv) Coordinate timely inspection of crops and advising farmers at various stages in accordance with best agronomic practices.
v) Ensure registration of seed crops with KEPHIS.
vi) Collection and compiling of seed production data.
vii) Prepare periodic work progress reports.
viii) Supervising seed harvesting and delivery to the processing plant.
ix) Advising on key issues that impact the production function in the zone.
x) Assist in preparation of annual unit and departmental budgets
xi) Assist in preparation of departmental work and procurement plan
Minimum requirements
Requirements for Appointment.
For appointment to this grade, one must have:
i) Bachelor degree in Agriculture, Horticulture or equivalent qualifications;
ii) A minimum period of eight (8) years in relevant work experience and at least three (3) years in supervisory role in a position in the Public Service or Private Sector.
iii) Management course lasting not less than four (4) weeks from a recognized institution;
iv) Membership in good standing to any professional body
v) Proficiency in computer applications
vi) Good communication skills
vii) Ability to work in stressful and strenuous environment.
viii) Ability to work in a multicultural environment.
ix) Must have valid driving license.
x) Fulfill the requirements of Chapter Six of the Constitution
